Strike preparing to spud Walyering-5 well
Australian oil and gas explorer Strike Energy is preparing to spud the Walyering-5 well in Perth basin, it said on August 26.
The company has mobilised earthmoving and civils equipment at the well location where it has started construction of the pad and associated infrastructure to host the Ensign 970 drilling rig. Strike will receive the rig after completing the Lockyer Deep-1 well and expects to spud the well in October.

“Success at the Walyering-5 well has the potential for material value uplift across Strike’s large continuous acreage position, where substantial Cattamarra prospectivity exists,” CEO Stuart Nicholls said. “This area includes the Ocean Hill structure and gas discovery where a substantial contingent resource already exists.”
Strike operates the project with a 55% interest, while its partner Talon Petroleum has a 45% stake, having completed a farm-in deal last year.
Walyering is a conventional gas discovery. In December 2019 Strike completed 3D seismic acquisition across the play.
