Shales and Spies
Foreign intelligence services operating in Poland are currently focusing on the energy sector, including natural gas – said the head of the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW).
According to the Polish press, Krzysztof Bondaryk specifically pointed to the activities of Russian and Belarusian intelligence services.
Presenting the yearly report of the ABW (Agencja Bezpieczenstwa Wewnetrznego) Krzysztof Bondaryk said that Russia, a resource exporter, is naturally interested in the Polish energy sector.
It`s not the first time, that the ABW has revealed its interest in shale gas.
In January the Agency detained Polish government officials, for alleged corruption in the awarding of shale gas licenses. The Director of the Department of Geology and Geological Concessions of the Ministry of Environment was among detainees.
