Southwest Gas closes Questar pipe purchase
Southwest Gas reported on December 31 that it had closed the purchase of Questar Pipelines, the owner of some 3,500 km of gas pipelines in the Rocky Mountain region, from Dominion Energy.
Southwest will rebrand Questar as MountainWest Pipelines Holding during the first half of this year. Colleen Larkin Bell will serve as MountainWest's president, reporting to Karen Haller, vice president at Southwest.

"Natural gas pipelines are essential to the nation's energy future, which includes alternative sources such as renewable natural gas and hydrogen blended gas, and MountainWest brings increased scale and diversification to our business portfolio," Southwest CEO John Hester commented. "MountainWest will focus on adding value by accelerating growth opportunities and positioning the Company as a leader in the evolving energy landscape."
Southwest entered into a definitive agreement to buy Questar from Dominion in early October.
