South Stream [gas pipeline] project has to be suspended until it comes to fully correspond to EU legislation, a communiqué of the European Commission to the European Parliament and the Council concerning the EU strategy for energy security says.
”The new investments in infrastructure which are made by dominating suppliers should be in line with the internal market and competition. In particular, the South Stream project has to be suspended until it comes to fully correspond to EU legislation, after which a new assessment has to be made of the project in the light of the EU energy security priorities,” one of the items of the document says.
