South Pars Phases 17, 18 to Come Online by March 2017
Phases 17 and 18 of South Pars gas field will come online before March 2017, Iran’s oil minister Bijan Zangeneh said.
Speaking at a conference in Tehran on Tuesday, he said all development phases of the gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters, will come on-stream by the end of Rouhani’s tenure in 2017, Shana news agency reported.
He also said that two trains of phase 19 as well as phases 20 and 21 will hopefully become operational by March 2017.
Currently, five phases of South Pars have become fully operational. The Iranian government has stepped up work to finish all the 24 phases.
South Pars is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, covering an area of 3,700 square kilometers of Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. It adjoins Qatar’s North Field, which measures 6,000 square kilometers.
