South Africa to Move Ahead With Shale Gas Exploration
South Africa will move ahead "decisively" with the exploration of shale gas, country's minerals minister said in Cape Town on Tuesday, reports AFP.
Minerals Minister Susan Shabangu said South Africa has a potential of exploiting 485 trillion cubic feet of shale gas.
"We will move ahead decisively, yet responsibly with the exploration of shale gas," Shabangu said, adds AFP.
According to Shabangu the government is expected to come out with related legislation soon.
"We have published the technical regulations for the development of shale gas for public comments and the final regulations will be released shortly," the minister said.
