Sound Hires New CFO from Shell
UK-listed Morocco and Italy gas explorer Sound Energy has appointed JJ Traynor, Shell’s executive vice president for investor relations since 2005, as its new chief financial officer (CFO) with immediate effect.
Prior to Shell, JJ (John Joseph) was head of Deutsche Bank’s oil & gas equity research team. He began his career in 1989 as an exploration geologist at BP, having graduated in geology from Imperial College, London.
Sound CEO James Parsons said that the new CFO “brings a wealth of experience, to the company, both in our industry, and with energy investors.” The company added that it is intended that he would also be appointed as a director at a future date.
Former Gulf Keystone finance manager Mary Hood had been Sound’s CFO since January 2016, replaced earlier this year as acting CFO by Ian Coxon, who worked for several years at BG and its Australian subsidiary QGC.
