Statoil ASA expects the world’s northernmost liquefied natural gas facility to be in operation again shortly following production halts due to maintenance.

The Snøhvit liquefied natural gas facility is the first offshore development in the Barents Sea, Norway.

Without surface installations, this project involves bringing natural gas to land for liquefaction. Snøhvit currently produces 13,000 metric tons of LNG annually, all of which is exported.

Statoil, as operator, holds a 33.5% interest in the facility.  Other stakeholders are Norwegian state-owned oil and gas company Petoro with 30%, Total SA with 18.4%, GDF Suez with 12%, Hess Corp with 3.3% and RWE with 2.8%.
