Sinopec-operated Yuanba gas field has achieved an operational milestone with cumulative production reaching 20bn m³, the company said on January 26. 

At present, the Yuanba gas field produces 12mn m³/day of raw gas, which is sufficient to meet the gas demand of more than 10mn households/day, the company said. The field, located in southwestern China's Sichuan province, became operational in late-2014.

Yuanba is China’s first ultra-deep reef high-sulfur gas field and has a production capacity of 4bn m³/year. According to Sinopec, Yuanba gas field is one of the important resource bases for the gasification of the Yangtze River economic belt, which stretches from Sichuan province to Shanghai. It covers many fast-growing cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanchang and Nanjing.
