Sinopec's Wen 23 Gas Storage Achieves Annual Target
Chinese state-run Sinopec has injected 2.3bn m3 of natural gas in the Wen 23 underground gas storage facility, achieving the target for the year ahead of schedule, the company said October 15.
Sinopec said Wen 23 underground storage facility will help in ensuring a stable supply of natural gas during the winter season, which starts in November, to China's northern region. Wen 23 became operational in March this year.
Wen 23 has a designed capacity of 10.4bn m3 and a working capacity of 4bn m3. The underground gas storage was rebuilt from a depleted gas field in central Henan province.
Sinopec operates two other gas storage facilities. Wen 96 (also located in Henan province) and Jintan facility located in Jiangsu province. Wen96 has a total design capacity of 588mn m³ and working capacity of 295mn m³. The Jintan site has a total design capacity of 495mn m³ and working capacity of 281mn m³.
