Sinopec's southwest branch ramps up output

Sinopec’s southwest branch has produced over 3bn m3 of natural gas during the January 1-May 10 period, up 9.6% year/year, the Chinese state-run company said on May 16.

Yuanba gas field has produced 1.45bn mof gas, Xinchang gas field has produced over 1bn m3 and Weirong shale gas field has produced over 500mn m3 of gas during the period.

Sinopec said that the construction of the second phase of the Weirong shale gas field is progressing well. The company completed the first phase in 2019. The field has a production capacity of 1bn m3/year in the first phase which will rise to 3bn m3/yr when the second phase comes online.

Sinopec Southwest Oil & Gas Co., based in Chengdu, in the Sichuan province, is engaged in oil and gas exploration, marketing and other related businesses in southwest China. Its main areas of exploration and production are the provinces of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi.
