Sinopec's Northwest Oilfield Resumes Gas Supply to West-East Pipe

Sinopec’s Northwest Oilfield has resumed gas supply to West-East gas pipeline as coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak recedes in China and demand recovers, the company said April 23 in a statement.

Gas supply to the pipeline was halted due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Sinopec said that supply was fully restored on April 20 as gas demand from the downstream customers has been recovering gradually. Northwest Oilfield, located in the Xinjiang province, is operated by Northwest Oilfield Company, a subsidiary of Sinopec.  

The West-East gas pipeline is one of the most important gas transmission projects in the country and is operated by PetroChina, a unit CNPC. The pipeline runs from Lunnan in Xinjiang to Shanghai and passes through 66 cities in 10 provinces.
