Sinopec's Fuling Shale Gas Field Achieves Production Milestone
Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field in Chongqing, central southwest China, achieved a production milestone this month, according to China Petroleum News, the information division of state-owned CNPC.
Till October 6, the Fuling field, which completed first-phase production in 2015, produced over 20bn m3 of shale gas, China Petroleum News said October 8. Gas production in August reached the highest monthly level in 2018, with an average output of 16.78m m3/d. Cumulative output in 2018 has reached 4.5bn m3, China Petroleum News reported. In July, Sinopec said Fuling shale gas field produced 2.96bn m³ of shale gas during the six months that ended June 30.
In 2017, Fuling shale gas field achieved its production target, as its output reached 6bn m³, up 20% year on year. Sinopec has announced it is aiming to produce 10bn m³/yr of shale gas by 2020 from the field.
