Sinopec Gets Shale Gas From Test Well in Yuanba field

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation’s (Sinopec) analysis at a test well in the Yuanba field, in Sichuan province, has provided evidence of a large amount of shale gas, parent company China Petrochemical Corporation said Thursday.

The Yuanba 21 well can produce about 507,000 cubic meters of gas per day, the company statement said. Yuanba 21 wells are located in the Sichuan Basin northeast of Pakistan.

China’s shale gas reserves are estimated at around 25.08 trillion cubic meters, country’s Ministry of Land and Resources said last week.

The reserves are in theory, enough to meet China's gas needs for the next two centuries.
