Sinopec adds new reserves at Fuling field

Chinese state-run Sinopec has added 104.88bn m3 of the newly proven natural gas reserve at the Baima block of the Fuling shale gas field in the Sichuan basin, the company said on December 14.

The Fuling shale gas field now has accumulated proven reserves of nearly 900bn m3, accounting for 34% of the country’s total proven reserves of shale gas, Sinopec said.

Fuling, in central southwest China's Sichuan basin, became operational in 2014 and serves as a key source of supply for the Sichuan-East pipeline. Sinopec produced 6.7bn m3 of shale gas from the Fuling field in 2020, up 6% yr/yr, the company said in January.
