ITAR-TASS-Shell fails to achieve progress in gas exploration in Ukraine’s east

Oil and gas giant Royal Dutch Shell has failed to achieve desirable progress in shale gas exploration at the Yuzovka gas field in Ukraine’s east, that was expected to be extracted by hydraulic fracturing, the press service of the Kharkov administration said on Thursday.

Shell did not reach progress in exploration of the Yuzovka gas field at the pace the company was keen to have at present, although the testing phase had envisaged baseline assessment of the environmental and social spheres, Graham Tiley, the country manager of Shell Ukraine said at a meeting with a local high-ranking official.

Tiley pointed out that the reason hampering implementation of the company’s plans was the situation in the neighbouring Donetsk region.
