Shell Sees Asia as Key Long Term Growth Area

Shell CEO Peter Voser said the company sees Asia as its key growth region.

"Asia Pacific for U.S. is the key growth region in the portfolio of Shell. We see a lot of growth and hopefully enough growth that it can actually drive the worldwide economy," said Voser, speaking during Singapore International Energy Week.

The Shell chief said that he expected that the Asia Pacific region would slow down slightly in 2012, but that this would be a growth engine for the world for many years to come.

Voser said Shell is looking at maximizing opportunities from growing worldwide shale gas shale output, including gas-to-chemicals and gas-to-liquids production; LNG exports from Canada to Asian markets and LNG as a transportation fuel such as a long-haul trucking.
