Shell resumes loading LNG at Prelude
Shell on April 11 said loading of LNG cargoes has resumed at its Prelude floating LNG (FLNG) facility off the coast of northwest Australia.
“Our focus at Prelude remains on the long-term and delivering safe, sustained and reliable performance into the future,” Shell said in a statement.

A fire broke out at Prelude LNG's electrical systems in December, and the UK major was told to rectify potentially "catastrophic" issues at the facility. Australia's offshore regulator National Offshore Petroleum Safety Environment Management Authority (NOPSEMA) last month allowed the company to resume operations.
Shell said that the announcement from NOPSEMA confirming Direction 1860 has been closed following its demonstration that the facility can safely recover essential power and associated essential services following a loss of power, and that the safety systems and essential support systems operate to maintain the safety of personnel.
The 3.6mn metric tons/year Prelude FLNG facility, located offshore Broome in Western Australia, is designed to extract, liquefy and store natural gas at sea before it is transferred and shipped to customers.
