Shell Starts Trucking LNG in India
India's petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan on January 19 virtually inaugurated a truck loading unit at Shell's LNG terminal in Hazira in Gujarat, Shell India said on the same day.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said trucking LNG would help develop the country's gas market, including in its hinterland, and spur the use of LNG as a vehicle fuel.

Shell acquired a 26% interest in the 5mn metric ton/year Hazira terminal in early 2019 and has set up an integrated value chain providing its global LNG supply to downstream customers.
“This development extends our downstream customer offering and now, in addition to supply of R-LNG via pipeline, we can also supply LNG by trucks to customers across India," Nakul Raheja, country head of Shell Energy India, stated.
India is looking to expand the share of gas in the primary energy mix to 15% by 2030. Shell said that small-scale LNG could play an important role in realising this target.
The Hazira terminal has been in operation since 2005 and has received more than 600 LNG cargoes till date.
