Shell Develops Reservoir Modelling Platform with Baker Hughes
Shell and Baker Hughes recently announced a software licence and joint-development agreement to produce a high-end platform for geological and reservoir modelling.
The oil and gas major declined to unveil the investment figure in the project or the exact timeline for delivery.
“There is already a strong foundation to work from, but it will take time (1-2 years) to transform it into a Shell Enterprise edition that can be gradually rolled out depending on the discipline area,” said a spokespoerson for the company to Natural Gas Europe.
The software will be based on Baker Hughes JewelEarth software platform. Shell will not sell this software to competitors or any other party.
According to a note released last week, the system will be optimized for resource modelling and production in tight/shale gas and liquids rich shale reservoirs.
