Baltic Course: Lithuania's PM: shale gas exploration begins only after approval of local communities
Shale gas exploration can be started only when the local communities approve of it. Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius says that he has met with the representatives of U.S. company Chevron and has informed them that it is necessary to find a consensus with the local communities, reported LETA/ELTA.
"I was assured that Chevron has started active cooperation with the local residents and will continue it further," said Butkevicius in the interview with the national radio LRT.
According to Butkevicius, his position remains the same - primarily, the consensus with the local communities must be reached. MORE
