Focus: Shale gas and a visit to the dentist
Can shale gas be compared to a visit to the dentist? This might sound like an absurd and humorous question, but it is not. Europe needs to get used to the term “shale gas”, which is not toothache, but the treatment itself, the Presa daily reads.
Bulgarian politicians could reach an unimaginable “ecological” level of personal behaviour and suddenly decide to defend Bulgaria’s interests within EU values. As a result, Bulgaria could come up with a proposal to its EU partners to set up an EU research centre on shale gas reserves and establish ecological regulations and standards for its production.
As good an idea as this might be, many Bulgarian politicians have undertaken “commitments” to third countries. The countries with the highest forecasted conventional gas reserves seem to hold the least shale gas reserves. Among them are Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Russia.
