Serica spuds North Eigg probe
Serica Energy said July 11 it had commenced drilling operations at its North Eigg exploration well, aimed at proving up more gas reserves to deliver into the UK's domestic market.
The UK North Sea exploration probe is wholly owned by its operator Serica. It is a high pressure high temperature well targeting Upper Jurassic turbidite sands and 60mn barrels of oil equivalent in unrisked prospective resources (P50 recoverable).

Serica believes the North Eigg reservoir has similar qualities to the nearby Rhum gas field, which it also operates. In the event of a discovery, Serica could tie North Eigg to its existing gas production infrastructure at the Bruce platform, situated in UK North Sea blocks 9/9a, 9/8a and 9/9b.
Serica expects to report back with North Eigg's drilling results in mid-October. Mitch Flegg, CEO of Serica Energy, said: "This is an exciting exploration prospect located very close to Serica owned and operated infrastructure.
"In a success case, this means that any development could utilise the existing production facilities on the Bruce platform, thereby reducing the need for extensive investment in new facilities and reducing the carbon footprint of the development and subsequent production period. "
