Sembcorp, Bechtel to do assembly work at Pluto LNG
Singapore-based services company Sembcorp Marine said December 14 it would join a division of engineering firm Bechtel in managing module assembly for the Pluto LNG export facility in Australia.
Subsidiary Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms (SMOP) and Bechtel Overseas will form a management team that will oversee the modular assembly programme for the second liquefaction train at Pluto. Pluto Train 2 will be one of the lowest carbon-intensive sources of LNG delivered to customers in north Asia, with first LNG cargo targeted for 2026.

Pluto Train 2 will process natural gas from the nearby offshore Scarborough field and has a nameplate capacity of about 5mn metric tons/year of LNG.
Australian energy company Woodside, which has operated Pluto since operations began in 2012, made the final investment decision (FID) to approve Pluto Train 2 development last month. The FID covers new domestic gas facilities and modifications to Pluto Train 1.
