Schlumberger Unit Gets Reliance EPC Contract

OneSubsea, a unit of Schlumberger, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Reliance Industries to supply the subsea production system for the latter’s R Cluster (Block KG-D6) project, offshore the east coast of India, it said October 5.

The scope of this project includes trees, subsea manifolds, control system, tie-in system, multi-phase metres, intervention tooling and test equipment for the R Cluster field. The contract also includes installation, commissioning support and life-of-field services. Reliance has the option to award the supply of the subsea production system for additional wells for its satellite fields to other bidders also.

Earlier this year Reliance and its partner BP said they will invest an additional $6bn in the KG-D6 block over next three to five years to develop three projects.

The first will be D34 in the so-called R series, a dry gas development in water-depths of more than 2,000 metres, about 70 km offshore. The R-series fields will be developed as a subsea tieback to the existing control and riser platform off Block KG-D6. The project is expected to produce up to 12mn m³/d when it comes on stream in 2020.

The three projects will be developed in an integrated manner and RIL and BP plan to submit development plans for the next two projects for government approval by the end of 2017. The three projects together will bring 30-35mn m³/d (11bn-13bn m³/yr) of new domestic gas production on stream from 2020 to 2022.
