Saudi Aramco increases reserves at Jafurah unconventional gas field
Saudi Arabia on February 25 announced an increase in reserves at the Jafurah unconventional gas field. The additional reserves, certified by an independent consulting company, comprise 15 trillion ft3 of gas and 2bn barrels of condensate.
This development brings the total estimated reserves at the Jafurah field to 229 trillion ft3 of gas and 75bn barrels of condensates, Saudi minister of energy Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said.
Helmerich & Payne (H&P), a New York-listed drilling contractor, announced on February 12 the conclusion of contractual terms with Saudi Aramco regarding a recent seven-rig tender award.
State-backed Saudi Aramco is continuing to build out its gas capabilities. In 2022, the company announced it would bring on stream the $100bn Jafurah onshore unconventional gas project in 2025.
