Sapura Consortium Bags ONGC Contract

Malaysia’s Sapura Energy in a consortium with India’s Afcons Infrastructure has been awarded a ringgit 3bn ($720mn) contract by Indian state-owned ONGC, it said December 6.

Under the contract, Sapura Fabrication, wholly owned by Sapura, in a consortium with Afcons Infrastructure, the engineering procurement construction arm of Mumbai-based Shapoorji Pallonji Group, will undertaking engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning  for a central processing platform and living quarters for the KG-DWN 98/2 NELP block in KG basin offshore India’s east coast. Sapura Fabrication's share in the consortium is 48.3%. The works are expected to be completed by January 2021, Sapura said.

According to ONGC, the project would cumulatively produce around 25mn mt of oil and 45bn m3 of gas with peak production of 78,000 b/d of oil and 15mn m3/d of gas.

Last week ONGC’s chief marketing officer Guhan Radhakrishnan told the LNG India Summit that ONGC has stepped up on bringing newer fields into production and first gas from the KG-DWN-98/2 block is expected soon.
