Santos Produces First Gas From Wortel
Production of gas has commenced from Santos’ Wortel project in Indonesia, the company said on its website Wednesday.
The project is located in the Sampang Production Sharing Contract (PSC), offshore East Java in Indonesia. It was sanctioned in November 2010.
The company has earlier said that gas production from the project would begin by January end.
Wortel was the fourth project to start production in the past eight months, the company said.
Gross gas production is expected at 90 terajoules per day. Gas will be exported via an existing pipeline to an onshore processing plant and sold for domestic Indonesian power generation.
Santos has a 45% interest and is the operator of the Sampang PSC. Other partners are SPC (40%) and Cue Energy Resources (15%).
