San Leon Spuds Siciny-2 Well

San Leon Energy has announced that it has spudded the Siciny-2 well in the SW Carboniferous Basin in Poland.  The well lies in the Gora Concession, which is 100 percent owned by San Leon. The concession is located 70 kilometres southeast of Zielona Gora in Poland.

The well reaches a depth of 3,500 metres and will include an estimated 400 metres of core and an advanced geological and geophysical evaluation program.

The well is designed to test the unconventional gas potential of the Carboniferous sediments. San Leon says these sediments are believed to be the source rock for significant gas production in the overlying Permian Rotligendes and Zechstein formations.

The company has no plans to conduct any major flow testing on the well, but says that it will further evaluate once results are available, and may plan more drilling for 2012.
