San Leon Granted Polish Praszka Concession

European focused San Leon Energy has announced today that it has been awarded another concession in Poland, the Praszka concession.

The granting of the licence, by the Polish Ministry of the Environment, gives San Leon access to two blocks in the Southern Permian/SW Carboniferous Basin of Poland. Through the concession, the company will take a 100 per cent stake over Block 309 in its entirety, and portions of Block 310.

The Praszka concession has potentional for both conventional and unconventional gas plays, with San Leon expanding its existing interests in the SW Caboniferous Basin. The company has already found success in this basin with the drilling of the Siciny-2 well earlier this year.

The company also says it sees potential for conventional prospectivity in the Permian Zechstein and Rotligendes formations on trend with existing production in the concession.

Through the acquisition of this licence, San Leon's total acreage over the Permian/Carboniferous Basin is increased to 1.2 million net acres, all of which it holds a 100 per cent licence for. This makes it the strongest player in this basin, the company's chairman said today.

"'We are very excited to continue to expand our prospective acreage position in Poland," chairman Oisin Fanning said.  "Our focus on the huge upside potential of the Carboniferous follows the company's strategy of building a diverse portfolio of high potential assets. San Leon is now the dominant player in the basin."
