Salamander Energy Finds oil, Gas Offshore Indonesia
Salamander Energy has discovered oil and gas off the shore of Indonesia in the North Kutei basin.
South Kecapi is the first well in Salamander’s multi-well programme in the North Kutei basin. The well discovered a combined 40 m of net oil and gas pay in high quality stacked Pliocene channel sandstones, the company said. A drill stem test was conducted within one of the well’s primary targets, which flowed light oil at a rate of about 6,000 barrels of oil per day and 8 MMscf per day of gas.
Salamander plans to drill another well to examine updip potential in the Bedug structure, 4 km (2.5 mi) east and 500 m (1,640 ft) updip of SK-1. First, however, the rig will transfer to the South East Sangatta PSC to drill the North Kendang-1 exploration well.
