Saipem Announces New Contracts
Italian contractor Saipem said August 31 it has recently been awarded three contracts amounting to $370mn in value.
Offshore Angola, Eni has awarded Saipem orders in relation to its West Hub oil and gas development project, in addition to those assigned in 2016-17.
Also in West Africa, Saipem has secured a contract from Eni Ghana Exploration & Production for the engineering, procurement and construction of the infrastructures needed to boost the capacity of the gas stations situated in the vicinity of the ports of Takoradi and Tema in Ghana.
Finally, a contract has been assigned by Gazprom-owned Nord Stream 2 for the construction of the last section of the pipeline crossing the Baltic Sea and the shore approach in Greifswald, Germany. Allseas already has the main pipelay contract for the project.
Saipem's acceptance of NS2 work represents a return to good relations with Gazprom; in early 2016 Saipem filed a €759mn claim against Gazprom after the latter terminated its contract to lay the South Stream pipeline in the Black Sea; that project, rechristened TurkStream, was later awarded to Allseas.
