RWE Starts Production at Breagh Gas Field
RWE Dea UK started production in the UK Southern North Sea, registering an initial flow rate of 2.75 million cubic metres of gas per day in the first three wells brought into production.
“We are very pleased with the start of production in a relatively short period of just over two years since approval by the British Authorities,” said Rene Pawel, Senior Vice President Production Europe of RWE Dea, referring to the Breagh gas field.
Breagh is the largest RWE Dea operated field development project in the United Kingdom. The company has a 70% stake in the licence, with the remaining in the hands of Sterling Resources UK. Total reserves of the field are estimated at approximately 20 billion cubic metres.
“Breagh is very important in the context of achieving our company’s growth targets as this field will make a major contribution towards boosting RWE Dea’s gas production,” explained Thomas Rappuhn, Chief Executive Officer of RWE Dea in a note released on Monday.
The Breagh gas field is located in Blocks 42/13a and 42/12a in the UK sector of the Southern North Sea. According to a note released on Monday, the company expects an average annual production volume of 1.1 bcm from 2014 to 2018.
