SOCAR President Speaks With Afghan Minister on Cooperation
Azerbaijan’s SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev met Afghanistan’s Petroleum Minister Daud Shah Sabah to speak about cooperation opportunities to tap into hydrocarbon resources in Afghanistan.
‘Afghanistan's Mines and Petroleum Minister Daud Shah Sabah … spoke about rich petroleum and gas resource of Afghanistan, its latest cooperation activities with the international companies and expressed his country’s interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan’ reads a note released by SOCAR on Friday.
SOCAR President stressed the expertise of his company, and its international dimension.
‘SOCAR President emphasized an important contribution of Azeri oil workers to the history of the world industry. He spoke about the regional and international projects of SOCAR, its achievements, operation fields, domestic and foreign assets.’
Earlier this year, National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said it could export gas to Afghanistan through a pipeline or small LNG terminals.
As recently reported, Azerbaijan's energy sector is seeing in the removal of sanctions against Iran an opportunity to increase the commercial viability and attractiveness of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP).
