Rosneft Gets Technical Support of Russian Ministry for Artic Exploration

Russia’s Rosneft signed an agreement with the Ministry of Emergency Situations for cooperation during exploration activities in the continental shelf of Russia in the Arctic. 

“The agreement with Ministry of Emergency Situations is an important part of the Company group of actions aimed at environment protection and conservation of biological diversity, also at the Arctic coast,” Rosneft President Igor Sechin said in a note released on Friday. 

The agreement is a sign of Russia’s interests in the Arctic. 

Rosneft and the Ministry will jointly carry out scientific research, with the aim of implementing new technologies for prevention and relief. 

Two weeks ago, the company started exploration drilling at the Northern Chaivo field, Sakhalin-1 project, proving its clear commitment to the Far Eastern Federal District.
