Rosneft Eyes Asian Gas Market
Russia’s natural gas sales to Asia could see major boost if companies other than state owned Gazprom are allowed to export the fuel, news agency Reuters quotes from documents from Rosneft.
According to Rosneft documents, seen by Reuters, Russia would be able to boost gas sales to Asia to 60 bcm per year by 2025 if other companies were allowed to export the fuel.
Currently Gazprom has the monopoly to sell Russia gas abroad via pipelines.
Last year, Rosneft was allowed to export ship sea-borne LNG abroad.
Russian is trying to shift focus towards Asia as West has introduced Ukraine-related sanctions, including on Rosneft's Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin, who said the measures so far had failed to hurt his work with U.S. partners or him personally, Reuters reports.
