Rosneft Starts Program to Acquire Data on Kara Sea
Russia’s Rosneft started on Friday a large-scale program to acquire data on the Kara Sea shelf in order to develop the Arctic offshore fields, reads a note released by the company.
Rosneft will cooperate with the RosHydroMet Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute in the Kara Sea Summer 2013 Marine Expedition, a program to acquire data through meteorological stations and satellite monitoring.
“The data will be required for assessment of the outdoor environment influence upon the projected marine facilities to be used for development of the Eastern Prinovozemelsky license areas,” reads a note released on Thursday.
The company has started exploring the license areas of East Prinovozemelsky 1 and 2 (the Kara Sea) and began field seismic survey at the license areas of Fedynsky and Central Barentsevsky (the Barents Sea).
“The Company's geological exploration is significantly ahead of the license agreements schedule,” reads the press release.
