Romgaz Appoints New Interim DG
Romanian state-run producer and supplier Romgaz said June 15 it has appointed Volintiru Adrian Constantin as its director-general for a four-month term.
He previously served as president of the state assets valorisation authority (Avas) during 2013; was a board member of Romgaz in 2013-14; and has held other roles in industry and Romania's government.
It continues a period of flux at the helm of Romgaz. In April, it has extended its interim director general's mandate, Corin Emil Cindrea, for another two months to June 14; he was deputy DG until end-2017. The previous Romgaz director-general Virgil-Marius Metea was sacked in December for "management deficiencies and lack of compliance," linked to allegations that gas was sold too cheaply.
Romgaz produces roughly half of Romania's 10.3bn m3/yr gas production, according to BP's latest Statistical Review of World Energy. The country's other major producer is OMV-Petrom.
