Repsol to Supply Clean Energy to Microsoft in Europe
Spanish oil company Repsol has agreed to provide wind and solar power for software giant Microsoft's operations in Spain and elsewhere in Europe, the companies said on March 17.
Microsoft, which is looking to source 100% of its energy from renewable sources by 2025, also agreed last week to receive power in Spain from France's Total, which is developing 5 GW of solar capacity in the country. Repsol, meanwhile, aims to build up its renewables business to 7.5 GW of generation capacity by 2025 and 15 GW by 2030. The company will also work with Microsoft to build new AI-powered digital solutions and increase its use of Microsoft cloud solutions.

"The extension of our collaboration and the supply of renewable energy undoubtedly reaffirms the vision that both companies share about sustainability and how digitalisation will transform the energy sector," Repsol CEO Josu Jon Imaz said.

"Our collaboration with Repsol brings together the company’s leadership in renewable energy with the power of Azure, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform to accelerate Repsol’s digital transformation and reduce carbon emissions."
