Reganosa Lands Sardinia Maintenance Deal

Spanish infrastructure operator Reganosa will manage Sardinia's first LNG import terminal when it comes on line, it said February 22. Only a few customers on the island use LNG and they have it ferried across in tanks.

The plant will probably be operational by the end of the second quarter and is the property of Higas, a joint venture involving Avenir LNG and Italian partners Gas & Hit and CPL Concordia.

Construction in the port of Oristano, on the west of the island, is in its final phase. The plant is catering for LNG trucking and bunkering operations, and this will be its third third-party operation, Reganosa said.

The Higas terminal includes a jetty capable of receiving vessels up to 20,000 m³; an unloading arm; six horizontal cryogenic holding tanks of 1,500 m³; two LNG truck loading bays; and a natural gas power generation system. The terminal can load in excess of 8,000 LNG trucks each year. 

Reganosa began its overseas expansion in 2015 with the creation of Reganosa Services to provide the knowledge and experience of the group in studies, project designs, consulting, engineering, and asset management. Since then it has started up services in 15 countries, covering all the phases of project development, from viability studies to commercial operation. It will also begin the operation and maintenance of the floating import terminal in Ghana.
