ReFuels reports 22% increase in bio-CNG dispensed in June

ReFuels, a Netherlands-based bio-CNG (biomethane) supplier, announced on July 11 that it dispensed 4,458 tonnes of bio-CNG from 14 refuelling stations in the UK during June 2024, marking a 22% year/year increase. Last June, the company operated 11 stations.

The average daily dispensed volume was 148.6 tonnes in June 2024, compared with 122 tonnes/day in June 2023. For the three months ended June 2024, the total dispensed volume was 13,582 tonnes, a 30% increase compared with the same period last year.

In June, an average of 1,761 vehicles refuelled at ReFuels' bio-CNG stations daily, up from 1,401 vehicles for the same period last year, corresponding to a 26% growth. ReFuels serviced 167 unique customer fleets across its network in the three months ended June 2024, compared with 128 for the same period in 2023.

Operating under the CNG Fuels brand, ReFuels manages 14 public access bio-CNG stations on major trucking routes in the UK. The group opened a new refuelling station in Aylesford, Kent, in May, which is the first public access station in Southeast England, a region with a population of more than 9mn.

ReFuels has one station under construction in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, one of the UK's largest logistics hubs, and aims to have 30-40 stations in operation by the end of 2026.

Recently, Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels, told GasPathways that the company is poised for significant growth in 2024.
