QCLNG Project to Help BG Group Double LNG Supplies
Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) project is expected to help BG Group roughly double its LNG supplies in 2015-16, news agency Reuters reported the company as saying Wednesday.
Steve Hill, BG Group's head of global energy marketing and shipping said seven cargoes have been shipped since December from the QCLNG facility. The first cargo was delivered to China. QCLNG is the world's first LNG project to be supplied by coal seam gas.
The plant is expected to stop operations for about a week of maintenance before ramping up to full capacity, allowing it to ship about one cargo a week, Reuters stated.
The company has signed a purchase agreement for Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass LNG terminal, with first deliveries due in December, the news agency reported adding that eventually BG Group expects total volumes of 8 million tonnes from Queensland Curtis LNG and 5.5 million tonnes from Sabine Pass.
