Qatar's North Gas Field to be Completed Next Year
A reservoir study of Qatar's North Gas Field Development will be completed next year.
The country has extended a 5 year moratorium on further development of the North Field, originally imposed in 2005 till 2014.
The North Field, with total recoverable gas of more than 900 trillion standard cubic feet is considered to be the largest single non associated gas reservoir in the world.
Commercial exploration of North Field gas resources started in late 1991 with initial gas production from Phase I. Average production from this project in 2008 was around 750 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 24,000 barrels per day of stabilized condensate.
Qatar has no plans at this time to increase production of natural gas, unless there are convincing feasibility studies.
