QatarEnergy, ConocoPhillips pen LNG supply deal for Germany

State-owned QatarEnergy has signed a 15-year long-term contract with ConocoPhillips to supply LNG to Germany, the official Qatar News Agency reported on November 29.

Under the contract, Germany will be supplied with about 2mn metric tons/year of LNG with the first shipment expected in 2026.

Germany is working on diversifying its gas supply source amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Last week, Germany’s Deutsche ReGas said the country's first FSRU had arrived at the Mukran Port. The company is developing an LNG import terminal in the port of Lubmin. On November 28, Australia's Woodside said it supplied a cargo to Germany's Uniper.

Germany last month completed the construction of its first floating terminal for LNG at the North Sea port of Wilhelmshaven.

QatarEnergy last month selected ConocoPhillips as its third and final international partner in the North Field South (NFS) expansion project. The project comprises two LNG mega trains with a combined capacity of 16mn mt/year.
