Portugal Invites Interest in Shale Gas
The Portuguese government plans to invite a group of oil and gas exploration companies to study the potential for shale gas projects in Portugal, Diario Economico reported, citing Jose Perdigoto, director of the government’s geology and energy department.
Portugal has a “geological strutcture with potential” and the information is insufficient, Perdigoto said, according to the Portuguese newspaper.
The Lusitanian basin and Peniche basin have been identified as structures that would be attractive to potential shale gas exploration.
