Poles Concerned About Control of Shale Gas Riches
Eighty two percent of Poles think that Poland should develop its own technologies to extract shale gas deposits, and keep the profits.
Polskie Radio reports that the poll by OBOP, clearly indicates that opinion in country supports Poland taking the lion’s share of the bounty which could flow from shale gas exploration and not the many foreign companies lining up to exploit the resource.
“Poland has already given too many concession to foreign companies,” said energy consultant Andrzej Szczesniak.
In April, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of Poland's Law and Justice Party warned of the country losing control of its shale gas fields to those who have “completely different interests than Poland.”
