Poland Has The Most Attractive Shale Plays: Article

A new article by Vinod Dar, the managing director of Dar & Company, is touting Poland as the most compelling shale gas opportunity in the world right now.

"Its shale resources have attracted the interest, technology and money of both the largest integrated majors (ExxonMobil and Chevron) and mini majors, (ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil Corp) as well as small independents (Realm Energy International, San Leon Energy, Aurealian Oil and Gas, for example). Poland's gas monopoly PGNiG is also interested," Dar writes.

Not only is Poland an attractive resource because of its large stock of anticipated shale, it is also a country that has actively invited exploration companies to seek out shale in an attempt to become more energy independent. Currently, Poland depends almost entirely on Russian natural gas imports. Add to that Poland's geological setting, and, as Dar says, you have the recipe for the world's best shale plays.

"The good physical conditions, hospitable terrain, access to attractive markets and suspected scale (40 to 90 Trillion cubic feet) and quality of the resource base, make Poland the most compelling shale gas opportunity in Europe in the near term," he writes.
