Poland: Chevron Plans Further Shale Drillings

Chevron plans to drill a further three exploratory wells in Poland this year.

Its first exploration well, at the Grabowiec license in Horodysko hamlet, 70 kms south east of Lublin, will soon be completed according to a Chevron spokeswoman.

Speaking to the Polish Press Agency, Grazyna Bukowska said that the second well would be spudded in March at the Frampol-1 license, in Andrzejow, 60 kms south of Lublin. She added, that it`s too early to comment any details of investment plans.

Chevron has four licenses in the Lublin basin. The remaining two are Krasnik and Zwierzyniec.

At the end of 2011 Chevron Polska revealed, that 1.300 square kms of acreage had been covered by geophysical tests. 

The company has also exploration rights targeting shale gas in Bulgaria and Romania, with a combined Eastern European acreage toalling 18.000 km2.
