Pieridae Agrees Goldboro LNG Amendments With Uniper
Canadian LNG developer Pieridae Energy said July 11 it had negotiated extensions of key deadlines in its 20-year agreement with German utility Uniper covering half the output of Train 1 at its proposed Goldboro LNG terminal in Nova Scotia.
The new deadlines include September 30, 2020 for a positive final investment decision (FID) and an expectation that commercial deliveries of gas to Uniper will start between November 30, 2024 and May 31, 2025. And binding gas supply agreements and pipeline capacity agreements must be concluded by June 30, 2020.
“These extensions allow us to complete the work needed to make a final investment decision for the Goldboro project,” Pieridae CEO Alfred Sorensen said. “We continue to have ongoing discussions with [Kellogg, Brown & Root, or KBR] that will ultimately lead to finalised designs and fixed costs for the project. We expect the vast majority of that work to be completed near the end of 2019, which will move us closer to FID.”
KBR is currently reviewing an amended version of a previously-prepared front end engineering and design (Feed) study for the 10mn mt/yr Goldboro LNG facility, and will also conduct an open-book estimate necessary for entering into a lump sum turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
Pieridae expects to ship first gas from Goldboro in 2023-2024.
