PGNiG Starts Deep Drilling in Carpathians
Polish Mining and Gas Company (PGNiG SA) has announced that it has begun drilling a deep hole Blueing-1 in the Carpathian Mountains near Sanok.
Blueing-1 will be drilled to depth of 4800 m. Odwiert, whose cost is estimated at about 60 million zł, will take at least 6 months, with depth of of approximately 850 m by the year's end.
The aim is to identify drilling arrangement, types and permeability of rocks in the depths of land, which will help determine the structure of the rocks for the whole area of drilling.
On the basis of data obtained from this hole, a determination will be made if hydrocarbons are present, using the latest methods and data processing improve the quality of seismic seismic profiles, which allowed for interpretation structures lying at great depths.
Drilling a deep hole is the result of increased scope of activities exploration subsidiary of PGNiG SA Branch in Sanok in the last year. Next year the plan is to implement a similar hole, near Dukla-1 Sanok to a depth of 5,500 m.
PGNiG SA is the operator (with ownership as to 51%), with partners Eurogas Poland sp z o. o. (24%) Energy Bieszczady z o.o., a subsidiary of Aurelian Oil & Gas (25%).
